De Kustwacht Caribisch Gebied heeft dinsdagochtend een medische evacuatie uitgevoerd nabij Klein Curaçao. De actie werd opgestart nadat het Maritiem Operatie Centrum (MOC) een melding ontving van een commerciële boot met aan boord een 80-jarige Amerikaanse toerist die kampte met pijn op de borst en ademhalingsproblemen.
Na overleg met een arts van CITRO werd besloten dat de man dringend medische hulp nodig had. De Kustwacht zette daarop een helikopter in om de patiënt over te brengen naar luchthaven Hato, waar hij werd overgedragen aan ambulancepersoneel.
De toerist is vervolgens naar het Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) vervoerd voor verdere behandeling.
